Maryn has undergraduate degrees in music and psychology from The University of Texas at Austin, an MBA in Strategic Leadership from Amberton University, and the PHR and SHRM-CP human resource certifications. Her past professional work includes more than a decade of human resources experience, primarily in the financial services industry. She became interested in evidence-based birth when a care provider suggested an induction or C-section for convenience during her first pregnancy.
Maryn is a member of the KERA/KXT Community Advisory Board, Life Member of Texas Exes, a member of the Longhorn Alumni Band, a past Board Member of the Dallas Association for Parent Education, and an inaugural Professional Member at Evidence Based Birth. She was the first APPAC (Certified Placenta Preparation Arts Specialist) in Texas, and is an owner of Dallas-Ft. Worth Placenta, Dallas-Ft. Worth Belly Binding, and ShopBirth.
Steve has an undergraduate degree in Marine Transportation from The United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point and an MBA in Supply Chain Management from the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University. He is a retired officer of the United States Navy and formerly a marine officer licensed by the United States Coast Guard. He served in Operation Enduring Freedom as a combat advisor and logistics officer for U.S. and Afghan Special Forces.
Steve is a past president of the North Texas Chapter of the United States Merchant Marine Alumni Association and is a member of Congressman Kenny Marchant's (TX-24) Academy Selection Board. He frequently speaks at high school events where he encourages students to consider attending one of the service academies.
