Dr. Teri Mitchell
APRN, CNM, IBCLC
Dr. Mitchell earned an associate degree in applied science in nursing from Crouse Hospital School of Nursing in 2003. She immediately continued on to earn a bachelor degree in science in nursing from SUNY Upstate Medical University in 2006. Her family relocated from Upstate NY to the DFW area in 2009, to support her dreams of becoming a midwife. She earned a Doctorate in Nursing Practice degree in midwifery from Baylor University in 2014, prior to becoming certified as a nurse midwife by the American Midwifery Certification Board.
Laboring and birthing in water is very near and dear to Dr. Mitchell's heart, as she labored in water for all 3 of her children's birth. For her 3rd daughter, she had a home birth in the La Bassine birthing pool!
1LT Benny Mitchell
BBA, 1LT US Army
Benny served as a US Army Infantry Non-Commissioned Officer in Fort Drum, NY during the Global War on Terrorism. He continues to serve as a logistics officer with the Texas Army National Guard. In his civilian career he designs enterprise IT solutions for Fortune 500 companies. Benny has an Associates degree in Math and Science from Onondaga Community College and a BBA in Finance from SUNY Institute of Technology.
Benny was introduced to the value of La Bassine birthing pools during the birth of his third child, where he provided labor support while seated in the tub behind his wife. It is one of his favorite lifetime experiences.
He adds: "There's nothing like grabbing a sandwich from your own fridge after your baby is born."
Dr. & 1LT Mitchell are members of Hope Fellowship & enjoy playing softball on the church softball team!
They live in Frisco, TX with their 3 daughters and 2 rescued German Shepherds.
